Mill Ave Chamber Players

The Mill Ave Chamber Players is a professional woodwind quintet based in Phoenix, Arizona that holds over 50 concerts annually.

Monica Sauer Anthony, flutist, enjoys a very versatile career in performing and educating in the Phoenix area.  Currently, she performs with the Mill Ave Chamber Players and Symphony of the Southwest. Prior to performing with these ensembles, she was the founder of the Red Mountain Winds, and Sonora Flute and Guitar Duo. Monica has been a frequent musician with the West Valley Symphony, New Mexico Symphony, Arizona Opera, Phoenix Opera, and Opera Southwest. As a lover of new music, she has regularly performs with Crossing 32nd Street New Music Ensemble. Monica has been a guest recitalist in all over the Southwest and Midwest.

Monica has been a faculty member at Arizona School for the Arts since 2006. She has developed a progressive approach to prepare young woodwind players to enter the performing and academic world beyond high school. Monica has started an after school chamber music program and has organized a series of summer music workshops for middle school and high school students. In addition to training performers, she has designed the curriculum for the Music History and Culture courses at ASA. Monica has taught master classes and judged competitions all over the Southwest and California.

Monica received a Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from Arizona State University. Her principal instructors include Dr. Elizabeth Buck and Dr. Trygve Peterson. In her spare time, Monica enjoys reading, running, and time with the dogs.
